Every penny of your donation goes directly to providing these cats with the care they need to thrive and find loving homes.
Thank you for helping us change lives one Little Soul at a time.
At Little Souls Rescue and Sanctuary, some of our rescued cats and kittens have food intolerances — most commonly to chicken and fish (such as herring). These intolerances require a strict and specialist diet to keep them healthy and pain-free.
We provide a starter bag of their specific food on the day of adoption, and we strongly recommend continuing with this food unless advised otherwise by your vet.
Always let your vet know that you cat as a food intolerance and what too ,or they may not be able to help and support you and your cat with the right diet or treatment if you cats as a flare-up
⚠️ Important – Please Read Before Applying
Please only apply to adopt a cat with dietary needs if you:
Can financially afford the cost of specialist food (per month)
Fully understand what a food intolerance is and what it means for the cat
Will not feed regular supermarket brands (e.g. Whiskas), which often contain hidden chicken or fish
Are prepared to contact your vet immediately if a flare-up occurs and treat it prompt
Why Is This So Important?
Feeding a cat with intolerances the wrong food can cause:
Painful skin rashes or sores
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Excessive itching and grooming
Hair loss
Gut inflammation and internal discomfort
Long-term health complications if left untreated
Even a small change in food — or sneaky scraps they may steal — can lead to days or weeks of discomfort, or worse.
A Cat Is Like a Child...
They don’t know what food might harm them — they just know it smells or tastes good. That’s why your care, consistency, and awareness are so important.
With the right diet and fast treatment if needed, these cats can live full, happy, and healthy live
Thank You
By choosing to adopt a cat with special dietary needs, you are offering a second chance to one of the most vulnerable souls in our care.
Your love, understanding, and commitment will mean the world to them — and to us.

🐾 Adopting a Working Cat (Barn, Farm, or Stable Cat) 🐾
Not every cat is suited to indoor life, but they still deserve love, care, and a safe place to call home. Our working cats sometimes known as barn cats or free roamers are perfect for rural homes, farms, stables, or barns. These cats thrive in outdoor settings where they can roam freely and use their natural hunting instincts to help control rodents, all while enjoying the safety and care of a kind human.
What Working Cats Still Need
Even though they are independent, working cats still require:
Fresh food and water daily Hunting alone is not enough for them to stay healthy.
Warm, dry shelter A barn, stable, or outbuilding where they can stay safe from the weather.
Love and kindness Many of these cats are semi-feral, but with time and patience, they may trust you and form a bond.
Veterinary care All of our working cats are neutered/spayed, ear-tipped, and treated for fleas and worms before adoption.
Settling Them In The Holding Period
To ensure they understand where “home” is, working cats must be kept in a secure space for 4–6 weeks when first adopted.
This can be:
Two middle or two large dog crates connected together.
A safe holding pen or secure room in the barn/stable.
This area must include food, water, bedding, litter trays, and hiding spaces. This time helps them adjust to the smells, sights, and sounds of their new home, reducing the risk of them running away.
Working Cats in Pairs or Groups
Where possible, our working cats are adopted in pairs or small groups because they settle better with a familiar companion. However, we do occasionally have single working cats who are looking for the right kind of home.
What is Ear Tipping?
Some of our working or free-roaming cats may have a small part of their ear tip removed. This is called ear tipping and is done while they are under anesthesia during neutering or spaying. It is:
A universal sign that the cat is already neutered and vaccinated.
Safe and painless performed while they are asleep.
Helpful it prevents the cat from being trapped again for unnecessary surgery.
Benefits of Adopting a Working Cat
Natural Pest Control They help keep mice and rats under control.
A Life Saved Many semi-feral cats are overlooked for adoption because they cannot live as indoor pets. By giving them a home, you’re saving a life.
A Special Bond – Over time, many working cats learn to trust their carers and show affection in their own way.

🐾 Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule in Rehoming
Adopting a cat means patience — they need time to settle and feel safe. The 3-3-3 Rule helps explain this:
3 Days to decompress and feel safe
3 Weeks to settle into routines
3 Months to fully feel at home and show their true personality
Adjustment times vary — Free Roamers or nervous cats may take longer. We’re always here to help.
We are speaking up for cats with simple food intolerances — cats who are being misunderstood, mislabeled as incontinent, and wrongly put into nappies.
**Putting nappies on cats with food intolerances is causing them to suffer — physically, emotionally, and mentally. It has to stop.**
What’s the Problem with Nappies?
Nappies may seem like a quick fix, but they cause more harm than good, especially when the underlying issue is a dietary intolerance — not a toileting problem.
Here’s what nappies can do:
-**Skin damage, rashes & infections** – Moisture and bacteria trapped inside cause painful sores.
**Matting of fur** – Nappies cause severe knots and mats, hiding wounds underneath.
**Stress & discomfort** – Cats are naturally clean. Being forced to wear nappies causes distress and emotional harm.
**Delayed or missed medical care** – Nappies mask symptoms instead of treating the root cause.
**Prolonged suffering** – Many of these cats can live normal, healthy lives with the right food and fast treatment. A nappy is not a solution — it’s a sign of misunderstanding.
The Risk of Feeding the Wrong Food
Feeding a cat with food intolerances the wrong food — even once — can cause a serious flare-up.
If not treated quickly, flare-ups can lead to:
Rapid weight loss
Dehydration
Lethargy and distress
Long-term digestive damage
This is why we stress how important it is to stick to the right, vet-approved food and act fast if a reaction begins.
Think About It This Way…
Would you put a nappy on a human who had a food intolerance?
No — you’d keep to their special dietary requirements, see a doctor, and provide proper care.
Cats deserve the same compassion and respect.
What These Cats Actually Need:
A strict, vet-approved diet
Prompt treatment give during flare-ups from a vet that understands food intolerances in cats
Putting nappies on cats with treatable dietary needs causes needless suffering — physically, emotionally, and mentally.
This Is Not Right and Must End
It’s time to speak up, spread awareness, and do better. Because care should never cause pain.
We Are the Voice for the Voiceless — So Let’s Be Heard
These cats can’t speak for themselves, but **we can**. Let’s raise our voices. Let’s educate. Let’s put an end to nappies being used on cats who simply need proper food and loving care.
**Be their voice too. Stand with us today.**
🐾 Because they deserve better. Always
💚 Every Gift Saves a Life
