💚 Welcome to Little Souls — where every life matters, and every story deserves a second chance.
About Little Souls
Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary is a non-profit organisation based in Nottinghamshire, UK. We cover Nottinghamshire, Bassetlaw ,Yorkshire, and parts of Northamptonshire, and we are dedicated to providing a lifelong safe haven for guinea pigs, rabbits, and cats who need us most.
Once an animal arrives at Little Souls, they become part of our forever family loved, cared for, and never forgotten.
We have no paid staff, which means 100% of every donation goes directly to the care of the animals.
How and Why We Started
Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary began with a simple belief: every animal deserves love, safety, and a chance at life because every little soul matters, no matter what.
We have always opened our arms to the smallest and most fragile souls: abandoned guinea pigs and rabbits, stray cats and kittens, and every lost, wounded, and frightened animal in need of kindness. Pure innocence should never be left to suffer and we work endlessly to protect them.
For years, we witnessed vulnerable animals especially stray cats, guinea pigs, and rabbits being overlooked, abandoned, or turned away. Many were sick, too young, too old, or simply unwanted. We couldn’t turn our backs.
What began with helping a few desperate cases soon grew into a sanctuary filled with care, compassion, and second chances. Every step has been self-funded, every enclosure built with love, and every animal welcomed with open arms.
One story that will stay with us forever is that of a tiny kitten named Joseph. He was found alone in the woods, barely able to move, left as if discarded. His frail little body had been pushed aside by someone who didn’t care. But Joseph was lucky he was spotted, brought to our rescue, and shown the love he had never known.
The strength and resilience he displayed touched our hearts forever. Witnessing his transformation from fear to trust reminded us why we started Little Souls in the first place. Joseph never gave up on hope, and we didn’t give up on him. We showed him love and kindness, and in return, he taught us just how powerful love can be.
Becoming a registered CIO charity was not just a goal it was a dream built from sheer determination and endless nights of hard work.
We may be small, but our hearts are big and every animal that comes to us proves why we began.
Through compassion, care, and tireless dedication, we restore health and rebuild trust in humans. But beyond food, shelter, and medicine, we offer something deeper: love and hope.
We are the voice for the voiceless. The love for the unloved.
We help every animal see that they are worthy, that hope still exists even in the darkest times.

Many of the animals who come to us have experienced neglect, trauma, or abandonment. Some arrive from heartbreaking situations, but here, their past no longer defines them.
While we can rarely confirm exact birthdates or breeds, we can promise one thing:
💛 They will be loved and cared for unconditionally for the rest of their lives.
Some of our little souls have never known kindness or a gentle human touch. Many arrive frightened, but here they are met with patience and time until they learn to trust again. Watching their transformation is one of the most beautiful parts of our work.
Running Little Souls is a true labour of love. Every day, our guinea pig sanctuary and rabbit sanctuary require care, time, and resources to keep our animals safe, happy, and healthy.
From food, hay, bedding, and enrichment, to vet bills, vaccinations, neutering, and emergency care — the costs never stop.
We receive no government or council funding. Every penny that keeps the sanctuary running comes from kind donations, fundraising, and the dedication of our small team.
💛 By supporting Little Souls Guinea Pig Sanctuary, Rabbit Sanctuary, and Stray Cat Rescue, you’re not just helping with day-to-day costs — you’re giving frightened, unwanted, or neglected animals a safe place to heal and a chance at a brighter future.
About Kitten Adoptions
At Little Souls Rescue and Sanctuary, we do not adopt out kittens under 10–12 weeks of age.
This is to ensure every kitten is:
Fully vaccinated
Microchipped
Health-checked and ready for their forever home
Provided with a neutering date once they reach the correct weight and age
These steps are vital for each kitten’s health, safety, and wellbeing — helping them grow into happy, healthy cats.
Thank you for your understanding and support in giving our little ones the best possible start in life.
For the wellbeing of all rescue kittens.
To rescue, heal, and rehome cats and kittens who have been neglected, abused, or left behind.
To rescue strays and Free-Roamers who need safety and care.
To provide lifelong sanctuary for guinea pigs, rabbits, and any animal that can’t be rehomed.
To educate with kindness, offering free advice on guinea pig, rabbit, and cat care to anyone who needs it.
To highlight the importance of neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping, protecting not only the animals in our care but also preventing future suffering.
To help with TNR whenever possible, to educate people about neutering, and to guide them towards the right support. We also help families find assistance with pet food, keeping pets and their families together through hardship .
Through compassion, care, and tireless dedication, we restore health and rebuild trust in humans. But beyond food, shelter, and medicine, we offer something deeper: love and hope.
We are the voice for the voiceless. The love for the unloved.
We help every animal see that they are worthy — that hope still exists, even in the darkest times.
We are more than just a rescue. More than just a sanctuary.
We are a safe haven for the lost, the broken, the unwanted, and the overlooked.
Where many rescues focus solely on rehoming, and many sanctuaries only provide long-term care, we do both — with no pressure, no deadlines, and no ticking clock.
Here, every little soul matters. Every heartbeat is safe. Every story has a chance to be rewritten with love.
We know it can be hard to ask for support — but please, don’t struggle in silence.
If you or someone you know needs help with guinea pigs, rabbits, or cats, we are here for you — and we will never judge.
Life changes. Circumstances shift. You’re not giving up. You’re giving them a chance to be safe, cared for, and loved.
Little Souls is also a dedicated cat rescue, caring for strays, free roamers, and unwanted cats and kittens.
We work tirelessly to:
Rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats and kittens in need of a second chance.
Provide lifelong sanctuary for those who need ongoing medical care or cannot be rehomed.
💛 Over 350 cats have already found safe, loving homes through Little Souls.
Note: All our cats live in comfortable rooms, not cages, either at the sanctuary or with one of our many trusted foster families.
At Little Souls, our animals are always treated with gentleness, dignity, respect, and endless love ❤️
🏡 Spacious, Enriched Living
Guinea Pigs:
Female guinea pigs live in a huge 20ft x 30ft enclosure with tunnels, hides, and plenty of space to run and explore all year round.
Males enjoy their own safe, roomy enclosures to reduce stress and ensure harmony.
Rabbits:
Our rescued rabbits enjoy a specially built warren where they can dig, stretch, and snooze — just as bunnies should.
At Little Souls, the health and wellbeing of every animal is at the heart of everything we do. Each guinea pig, rabbit, and cat that comes through our doors receives:
Immediate veterinary checks and treatment,
Neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping to keep them safe, healthy, and protected for life.
Balanced nutrition
Enrichment and socialisation, ensuring they have opportunities to play, explore, and build trust.
We believe wellbeing goes beyond medicine
it’s about restoring dignity, building confidence, and giving each animal happiness, and chance to live with love, safety, and joy.

Here at Little Souls, every act of kindness keeps hope alive.
Together, we can make sure every little soul is safe, loved, and never forgotten.
Sadly Many people sadly see stray or feral cats as a nuisance. But at Little Souls Cat Rescue, we see lost souls who deserve a second chance.
We are actively working to rescue, support, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, stray, and unwanted cats . We also offer long-term care and ongoing support for cats who might otherwise be ignored, forgotten, or put to sleep
Some cat colonies have lived together for years, forming strong bonds. At Little Souls, we work to support and stabilise these colonies, helping them live happier, healthier lives in the surroundings they know and trust. 💜
When safety or health is at risk, we gently relocate cats to loving homes where they can thrive. Every cat we rescue receives full veterinary care, ensuring they get the attention they need.
🐾 Why Colony Welfare Matters
TNR (trap-neuter-return) works best when the whole colony is neutered. Careful planning and monitoring for new arrivals is essential to prevent more kittens. The earlier we start, the better — early support saves lives.
This vital work is costly. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue giving free-roaming cats the safe, happy lives they deserve.
Change a life. Give a forever.
You may not Adopt a Guinea pig or Rabbit though our Guinea pig Sanctuary and Rabbit sanctuary , but you can still change a life.

Need to Rehome a Cat, Guinea Pig, or Rabbit – or Looking for a Rescue Space?
We’re so sorry you’re in this position. At Little Souls Rescue and Sanctuary, we understand how heartbreaking it can be to make the decision to rehome your pet.
Whether you're rehoming your own animal or have found a cat, rabbit, or guinea pig in need of a rescue space, please know we’re here to support where we can.
Please be aware that we may be at full capacity when you first contact us—especially for cats and male guinea pigs—and we operate a waiting list system. Like many rescues, we receive daily requests to take in unwanted or abandoned animals, and unfortunately, we’re not always able to help immediately.
Every request is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and we’ll always try our best to support you. However, waiting times can vary depending on rehoming availability.
What You Can Do in the Meantime
Contact other rescues and ask to be added to their waiting lists.
Please Remember
Do not advertise your pet as ‘free to a good home’ – sadly, there are people who take advantage of this.
Do not abandon your pet or leave them with someone unless you are certain they can provide proper care.
Your pet still depends on you. It doesn’t understand that your circumstances have changed. Domestic animals, especially cats, cannot survive on their own—even if they appear to be good hunters. Most will suffer or starve without help.
A Final Note
Until a safe rescue space or loving new home is found, your pet remains your legal and moral responsibility. Planning ahead gives them the best chance at a safe and secure future.
Thank you for caring enough to reach out.
